I just hope they'll be banning accounts that collude. And that works for upvoting too.

I wish HN made the comment upvote/downvote data public. I was integrating with the API once and noticed they don't make that available (similar to the UI).

I have a strong suspicion there are many botnets now controlling the flagging and downvoting in HN automatically. The only way to stop it is for HN to implement it, or make the downvotes/upvotes public data.


FWIW, I think there are HN voting rings, not necessarily on the submissions proper, but on comments. I hypothesize that the voting rings are real humans who collude informally to vote down pro-vaccination comments, and anti-Trump comments.


Now if only we can get one on Hacker News (for posts).


There is already one for posts, "flag" them.
